A panoramic-format painting in which the biblical episode of the young Tobias guided and instructed by the Archangel Raphael (Tob. 6:3) unfolds within a broad natural setting. The scene is focused in the foreground: the two figures, shown in close proximity and illuminated, together with the fish that faith will transform into an instrument of salvation, emerge from the landscape as the angel points the way, turning the journey into an image of protection and spiritual guidance.
The true protagonist, however, is the wooded landscape, constructed with depth and atmosphere: leafy trees, clearings, streams, and distant hills create a visual pathway leading the eye toward the horizon. The contrast between warm light and deep shadow, along with the animated rendering of the sky, lends the composition a theatrical and emotional character typical of late Baroque sensibility. The result is a discreet narrative immersed in nature, where the theme of divine guidance is translated into a harmony between figure and environment.
