Polychrome Lacquered Guéridons

Description
An important pair of carved, gilt and polychrome guéridon tables. Naples, late 18th century
Details

This extraordinary pair of Neapolitan guéridon or jardinières showcases the highest artistic quality of late Neoclassical workshops in Naples. Fully carved in wood and finely gilded and painted, they stand out for their formal elegance and symbolic decorative richness.

The tripod legs, carved with oak leaf motifs, end in dramatic goat feet: a reference to classical antiquity and Pompeian influence, reinterpreted during the reign of Ferdinand IV of Bourbon.

The upper apron is richly adorned with relief floral and foliate decoration, painted in soft pastel tones against an ivory background. The circular top is realised in white marble and, completes the design with refined simplicity. These pieces reflect French decorative influence reimagined with Mediterranean flair.

Rare and scenographic works, ideal for historical interiors or museum collections.
