Details

Fruitwood stringing enriched, with refined herringbone pattern typical of the finest southern Italian cabinetmaking. The piece, of well-balanced proportions, successfully synthesises French Rococo taste with local ornamental sensibility.

The rectangular top is framed by a gilt bronze border with corners chiselled with foliate motifs, while the shaped apron features three drawers—one larger central drawer and two smaller side drawers—harmoniously integrated into the sinuous lower line. The volute-shaped legs are elegantly curved and finished with finely chased and gilded foliate mounts.

The precise craftsmanship and decorative flair show affinities with the work of Palermo or specialised centres such as Trapani, known for their excellence in marquetry.
