Kingwood veneered with elaborate neoclassical walnut, maple, palisander and green-stained maple marquetry. Exceptionally fine chased and gilt bronze feet, handles, and escutcheons. An outstanding piece, to be counted among the most important examples of Italian Neoclassicism. The distinctly French influence of the bronzes is likely due to documented connections between the Brignole Sale family and Paris. Its superb craftsmanship aligns it with a group of furnishings attributed to the renowned Genoese architect Gaetano Cantoni, today preserved at Palazzo Rosso and Palazzo Reale.
